Dr. Maraganore is the Founder, CEO, and President of CogniBiome Therapeutics, Inc. His passion is helping people to achieve healthy brain aging by preventing cognitive decline and dementia. Concurrent to his leadership at CogniBiome, Dr. Maraganore is Professor and Chair of the Department Neurology at Tulane University School of Medicine (New Orleans, LA), where his research relates to 1) microbiota compositions and methods using the same to prevent cognitive decline and dementia; 2) implementing adherence to the Mediterranean diet in neurology clinical practice; 3) population health initiatives to prevent cognitive decline and dementia in persons at higher genetic risk for Alzheimer’s disease; and 4) successful cognitive aging over age 90. His clinical practice is in brain health (primary prevention of cognitive decline and dementia in at-risk persons) and the evaluation and management of memory disorders (including mild cognitive impairment and dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease). Prior to Tulane, Dr. Maraganore was the past BJ and Eve Wilder Professor of Alzheimer's Disease at the University of Florida, past Chair of Neurology at NorthShore University HealthSystem (and Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of Chicago), and past Professor and Chair of the Division of Movement Disorders at the Mayo Clinic. A Chicago native, Dr. Maraganore received his Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree at Northwestern University (Honors Program in Medical Education); then completed his internship and residency in neurology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN; and then was the Honorary Clinical and Research Fellow to Professor C. David Marsden at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London, UK.
